Gullu’s sat cross legged on top of his dining table. Uncontrolled tears streamed down his face. In front him sat almost 2 kilos of onions which he had been chopping steadily for the past hour into tiny uniform pieces. He knew his Gulabo liked everything just so.
“Happys birthdays to me….happys birthdays too me….,” he sniffed, wondering if his biwi had finished at the beauty parlour. He knew she wanted to look her best for his birthday party that evening. She had set him many tasks before she had gone, he had done most of them so he was hoping that she would be happy when she came back. This morning she had given him a lecture about getting a year older but not wiser and demanding to know when his promotions would come through, apparently she had her eye on a Tato Nano!
Making sure she wasn’t around to see, he giggled to himself at the thought of her trying to get into that car, and that giggle turned into a full blown roar and he fell about laughing and crying at the same time on top of the table, that was where Chandu found him.
“Errr….Sir! Gullus Sir? Are you OK?” Chandu peered at the mad sight of his boss’s tearful face and manic laughing. “Laagta hai Gullus has lost it completely!” he muttered to the other constable.
Still laughing at his own joke Gullus asked, “Whys have you comes Chandus? You better have some bigs news fors me! I needs to get bigs promotions to gets biggers cars!” He dissolved into a fit of tearful giggles again, waving the huge chopping knife in the air as more laughter shook him.
Both Chandu and the Constable peered at Gullus harder. The constable whispered to Chandu, “Boss ne aaj ek peg to laagaye hai, he knows he can only handle one quarter!”
Chandu nodded gravely and approached Gullus with caution. “Errr Boss we have good news.”
“Good news!” Gulabo’s voice screeched across the room. “Finally he has promotion!”
Gullus frantically righted himself on top of the table and his last peel of laughter came back and jumped back into his mouth out of sheer fright.
“Err…… Gulabos darlings its will not be longs now, I promises yous!”
“Haan you have been promising me for 20 years! I have been rotting in this infernal village! If I had married that Gautam Singh I would have been in Delhi by now, a bankers wife, instead of an asS!”
“Darlingssssss, Gulabos…how can you say thats, you knows you loves me! You saids I lookeds cutes in my polices uniforms! Just like a toys boys you saids!” He pleaded at her retreating back.
Chandu and the Constable burst into fits of giggles.
“Shuts Ups!” Gullus glared at them. Why are you twos losers heres?”
“Err.. Sir we found the village which is the source of the illegal booze.”
“Wheres!” Gullus jumped up forgetting he was surrounded by piles of wet diced onions and promptly slid right to the end of the table his legs sliding off the table his body crumpled onto a chair so that only his head showed on the top of the table surrounded by chopped vegetables.
“Biwi ke liye he has served up his head!” Chandu giggled to his colleague.
“Haan complete with kaate hue pyaaj! Abb to nimbo sprinkle kaarne he baaki raha!” Laughed the constable.
Both stood holding their bellies trying not to laugh too hard as Gullus glared at them whilst brushing off the onions and climbing down off the table.
“I ams going to sacks you boths! Scoundrels! Goods for nothings!”
Chandu sobered up quickly at Gullus threat, he too had a biwi he had to answer too. . “Errr Rupnagar is the village, we have had the information from. Apparently there are two men involved, one I believe is from outside of the village, err we don’t have that much information on him but the other one is living in the village and err is a man called Balram Singh.”
Gullus paced his tiny kitchen with his hands behind his back. “You lazy lots! Is this alls the informations you have founds after alls thiss times!”
“Err Sir there is also some more”
“Mores! Wells stupids tells me nows!”
“That Balram Singh is Geet Maan Singh Khurana’s uncle!”
Gullus stopped pacing and his eyes suddenly glowed with light. “Mirchibai! I knews it they are masters criminals whens I laids eyes on thems! Diamonds thiefs and now this!” He jumped onto a chair grabbing Chandu by the collars he kissed him on the lips! “My promotions is guaranteeds nows!”
“But Sirs….we have heard that Geet is not involved, everyone in the village is vouching for her, its her uncle who is the criminal.”
“I am tellings yous Chandus, she is masterinis criminals! Gullus will gos immediatelys to that villages to finds out mores!” he jumped down about to run and pack his bags.
“GULUUUUUUUUUU! Kachoria baane di?” Came Gulabo’s yell from the sitting room, “meri friends abhi aayeengi!”
Chandu and Constable giggled as Gullu’s stuck his tongue out at Gulabo through the wall, and muttered, “after I have made the kachorias fors my owns birthdays!”
“Oh god this tastes so good!” Geet muttered finishing off her chicken and licking her fingers. She had finished off no less than three parathas the boy had willingly served her. “Kya laajawaab khaana hai…I could come here to eat every day!” She glanced around to look for Maan but he was nowhere in sight. She assumed he ha gone off to look at the car with the mechanic as his brother was on his own sitting on the cushion talking to someone else.
“Bibiji thoda sa aur chawal bhi kha lo, dal makhani bahut acchi hai na?”
Did she have time to have just a little bit of rice? After all she hadnt eaten last night either as she had been chasing Maan everywhere and expended a whole lot of energy too afterwards she thought with a blush. She grinned at the little boy. He went off full speed to do her bidding, coming back with a bowlful of warm rice that smelled heavenly.
“Oh yes!” She moaned eating it with her fingers and closing her eyes with delight. The little boy was right, the dal makhani here was incredible. Munching away with her eyes closed she didn’t see the van pull up and Shankar get out screaming to a boy to fetch some water.
“Saala ne saare Van ganda kaar diya.”
He dragged a gagged Anwar out behind the vehicle so he couldn’t be spotted and grabbing the pail of water from the boy as soon as it came, he emptied it all over Anwar trying to wash away the smell and the mess off Anwar’s soiled clothes.
“Arreee! Chi chi! Get me some more water!” he growled and muttered some more profanities at Anwar giving him a few more slaps for good measure.
Geet opened her eyes at all the swearing and cursing but couldn’t see who it was as the activity was all hidden from her by the van, so she carried on with her meal looking out for Maan.
“How much is the meal and car repair?” Maan asked the Sardarji.
“Kya jaaldi hai Saab?” Then grinning he asked cheekily, “naye naye shaadi hue hai? Bhabhiji ne kya prem se khilaya aapko!”
A dark red colour rose on Maan’s cheeks at the Sardarji’s words, but he couldn’t deny it, his Mishty had fed him so lovingly.
“Err…just tell me how much it is?” He said gruffly.
“No need to get embarrassed saabji, humari Pammi bhi hum ko itna hi pyaar kaarte hai!” The Sardarji’s loving gaze wandered over to his still beautiful middle aged wife. As she caught him smiling at her she smiled back lovingly.
The Sardarji’s brother grinned then at Maan’ glare he said , “err..sir please come and see what I have done then you can pay me what you think fit. Waise hum pyaar kaarne wale ke bahut kaadar karte hai.” They walked towards car and the mechanic slid in and started it, it sprang to life and Saardarji slipped out of the seat but as soon as he came around and stood next to Maan the engine coughed and died a noisy death.
“Kya hua!” Maan glared at the mechanic, “I thought you repaired it!”
The Saardarji stroked his beard with a frown and stood staring at the car, “maybe there is more kaachara then I thought, if you can give me some time I can flush out the whole system.”
“What’s the problem Maan?” Geet piped up rounding the corner behind the paying desk.
“He needs more time to flush it completely, it looks like we are not going to get to the site after all today.” Resigned to the problem he stared out on the road.
“Are you heading to the Parth Township?” The Saardarji questioned, he knew that was the biggest and only site at the end of this road.
“Saabji why don’t you take my motorbike over there and on your way back pick up your car, I will be finished by then.” He pointed to a sparkling red Yamaha that stood proudly on the side.
Maan and Geet both looked at each other with a huge grin. Excitement ran through Maan, he hadn’t driven a motorcycle like this for a long time.
“Why not indeed,” Maan smiled at the Saardarji, deciding he would give the Saardarji a huge tip when it came time to settle the bill.
The Saardarji handed over his keys and they both went over to the bike.
Settling themselves on it Maan glanced back at Geet, “Hold on tight!”
Geet grinned as the sped off.
Maan slowed his speed slightly not wanting to risk sliding and hurting his Mishty even though she was clinging to his back like a limpet. They arrived at the site slightly wet as drizzle had started, the security guard opened the gates and let them through. The rain stopped suddenly as it had come. Maan drove them through the empty pristine roads checking out the houses, gardens and general look.
“Isn’t this fantastic!” Geet shouted above the roar of the engine. “Our first project!” She looked out at the scene, each house had solar panels, turbines rose in the skyline at the far back. This township would be self sufficient as possible with energy, not having to rely on the intermittent unreliable power of the grid. Maan nodded to her smiling at the teams achievements. This would be a huge feather in KC’s cap. The fact that Mr Shah had said all the houses had already been sold was a testament to the all of them. They drove past some garden plots which Geet and Pinky had designed and would give residents who wanted the ability to plant their own kitchen gardens. KC had out done itself with the construction.
Grinning he pulled over to the side of a road in from one of the houses. The bike hit a stone, Geet dismounted and he followed her to squat down to make sure the stone had not damaged the tyre.
Grinning at the bike Geet leaned over it with excitement and turned the throttle and the wheel turned throwing muddy water all over Maan’s face.
“Oh! Maan I am so sorry!” As he turned and looked up giving her a murderous look. She covered her face trying not to grin as he tried to wipe off the mud from his face.
“Err Maan lets go inside you can wash it off in the sink.” she indicated a show house they had stopped near.
Giving her a dark look he stalked off to the door and tried it, it wasn’t locked so he stepped inside, even though he knew the exact plan and layout he stopped to look at the details. Geet who had been looking at the veranda walked straight into his back.
He turned and glared. “Geet!”
“Chaddo! Its your fault! Why did you stop so suddenly?”
“Hruump! You are the one who wasn’t looking!”
She ignored his accusation as her eyes fell on the inside. It was everything she had imagined it would be. A glorious smile lit her face.
Her excitement was contagious, he too grinned, “Geet you have out done yourself!” They walked through house going into each room. Both noting details and if anything was a amiss they made a note of it. Maan went into the ensuite hoping that the water supply had been turned on, the mirror told him he really needed to wash off the mud before it caked.
Geet followed him and turned the tap on full blast trying to help Maan. The squeaked and gurgled and suddenly blasted out in all directions soaking her yet again.
“Oh!” She gasped as it sprayed her.
Laughing at her Maan reached over and tried to shut it off but it wouldn’t budge, it sprayed his face and went everywhere.
“Turn it off!”
“I am trying!” He replied between gritted teeth.
She put her hands over his and pulled, with a sudden jerk the top of the tap came off and they fell backwards against the door shutting it with bang.
“Mishty! Mishty! Are you OK?” He straightened himself and took hold of her, she had slid right down to the floor.
“My hip may never recover!” She moaned trying to sit up.
“Stop!” His worried eyes fell to where her hand was rubbing it through the denim.
His hands went to her jeans and he popped open the button.
“Maan what are you doing?” she questioned with a squeak.
“Chup! Bilkul Chup!” He growled as he opened the zipper and pulled down the side that she was nursing.
Somehow she had managed to graze it, it was bleeding although not so badly, it still looked sore.
His angry eyes looked up at her face. “How on earth did you manage to do this!”
Why was he shouting at her? It wasn’t even her fault! Slapping at his hands she tried to pull her jeans up glaring at him. “leave it, I am fine.”
“Mishty! Stop it! You will hurt your self even more.” taking out his hanky he dabbed at the cut, leaning down to blow on it gently.
Geet saw their reflection in the full size bathroom mirrors, he was bent over her so intimately, a blush rose as she remembered the night before when he had been determined to kiss every single centimetre of her skin.
“Bas! Maan…” she gasped, trying to squirm away.
Looking up in frustration, he saw the heat in her eyes and froze. Then with a lopsided sexy grin that made her toes curl, he bent his head again and slid his tongue around and into her exposed navel.
“Ahhh!” Instantly she was on fire, her body lifted to his caress like a puppet being pulled to its master.
He kept on kissing and nibbling his way up her body and homed in her lips. It was a kiss filled with heat and love.
“Mishty,” he rasped, “you drive me crazy! I just want to make love to you all the time….tell me its the same for you? “ For an answer her nails dug into his shoulders, as his lips blazed a trail down her throat and right down her sternum pushing aside the shirt that barred his way.
She was beyond any thinking, her arms had already reached out, her hands touching him, running down his back pulling him into her. He shifted rolling with her and went straight into a tiled wall.
“What the hell!” Maan growled, they had forgotten completely where they were. Breathing hard they stared at each other for a moment and then grinned at each other
“I cant wait to get home. I am going to ravish you all over again!” He said against her lips before stealing a quick kiss and pulling her up.
He pulled the door open for her and they filed out just as the security man came in search for them. “I thought you were in trouble sir, when I saw your bike parked up, everything all right? He looked at their now thoroughly wet states.
“Err…”Maan coughed, “we were just making sure everything was in working order. It seems that that tap was loose, make sure you tell the team to get it fixed.”
The man peered at their blushed faces with a puzzled look. Grinning for ear to ear they set off back to the dhabba hoping the Saardarji had fixed their car.
