So here we move the story along, a full scale attack is on ;)) Do enjoy and comment I love to read them and promise to reply. Again Good Luck to all the readers sitting exams in the coming weeks! Yikes GOOD LUCK!
The chickens clucked and squawked and launched an attack by flapping their wings and pecking at the men viciously.
“OIII!!” the men screamed as they were completely surrounded. “Get away! Get away! SHOO! Salle murghiii! One of them fired a shot at one of the chickens, missing it but the noise rang out loudly in the hall.
Outside Maan and Adi stopped dead.
“Was that a a gunshot?” Maan’s eyes widened. “GEET!”
“Pinky!” Adi’s face paled.
They both tried the door which was shut firm. Maan tried to put his shoulder to it but it was a very solid door. With a muttered curse he looked around franticly as he could hear screams and shouting coming from inside even above the din of the storm and squawking noises which he couldn’t understand at all..what the hell was all that din.
“Adi you try that side I will try and get in from this side. There must be a window that’s open somewhere !” He ran like a madman trying all windows and doors, spotting an open window upstairs he stared to climb the wall using vegetation and pipes.
Inside all hell had broken loose, Mrs Chaddha was right behind the chickens with the broom whacking the men left right and centre.
“I will shoot you! Aunty get away, we only want Geet!” One of the men shouted.
“You will, will you! Molly attack!” She shoved a angry chicken at the man who fell on the floor screaming for his friend to help him. Molly started to attack the man who was threatening with renewed vigour as Mrs Chaddha carried on chasing them
“Shoot her!” one shouted to the other “…areey I am trying but these chickens! Helpppppppppppp!”
“Geet you and Pinky run, I will tackle these two! Runnnnnnnn you are in danger!”
Geet looked at Pinky, they both nodded to each other. They couldn’t leave Mrs Chaddha to face these men on their own. Pinky rummaged through the cupboard Mrs Chaddha had been in and found a cricket bat handing it to Geet whilst she grabbed a golf club. They both jumped into the frenzy.
Maan ran through the bedroom and onto the landing, he looked down and couldn’t believe his eyes.
“What the …CHICKENS?” Unable to belive his eyes, he stared at the scene, amidst it all were Mrs Chaddha, Geet and Pinky were chasing and hitting two quite vicious looking thugs with broom, a bat and a golf club. He saw Adi run in from somewhere downstairs and skidded right into the frenzy.
“P…..Pinkyyyyyy! Its me! MURGHIII?? Where are they coming from? Why is it attacking me? Help help!” his face a picture as he took in madness and ran around screaming as one of the chickens launched herself at him.
Maan leapt into action running down the stairs, just as one of the men spotted him.
“Mohan! Maan Singh Khurana! We will get Geet another day! Run! For sure Singhania will kill us!”One of the men screamed as he grabbed his friend and ran towards the door, grabbing their fallen guns along the way.
Maan was already on the bottom step when the man shot at him, missing him by a mile, as Maan moved fast.
Mrs Chaddha ran after them her eyes wild, “You will not get away with this!” She grabbed one of them by the arm and held on.
“Chood do nahi tou mein shoot kaar dunga!”
Seeing she was on their tail he pointed the gun at her and fired but luckily the gun stuck.
“Damit it!”Mohan gave an almighty shove and pushed Mrs Chaddha hard throwing her in Maan’s path and making her fall over hard with a loud scream.
The chickens squawked and clucked gathering around her and making soft clicking noises.
“Mrs Chaddha, are you allright?”! They all screamed rushing to her aid. While they were all busy the men threw the door open and ran out shooting at Maan’s tyres, jumped into their car and drove off at very high speed.
“I am fine, Maan don’t let them get away!”
Maan ran out after them but didn’t manage to catch them with the slight delay trying to see if Mrs Chadhha was Ok.. He glared at the dead tyres. If it had been only one, but they had shot two of them, there was no way to follow them. Damn it! He memorised the number and pulled out his phone but it had no signal. Muttering a curse he went back into the house as the rain started soaking through his shirt. The others had got Mrs Chaddha sitting up but it was obvious that she was in some pain. The chickens sat around her looking stressed as she was, clucking in a very unhappy manner.
He looked at them all and shook his head to clear it. Adi was holding Pinky’s hand and starting at the chickens wearily, Mrs Chaddha was consoling and congratulating her guard chickens very lovingly, a very pale Geet was looking at him with trepidation.
“Not now,” he stated shortly. His eyes told her in volumes that she was so dead. When he tackled what she had done and after he had talked out the dangers with her he could have happily throttled him himself. He stood massaging his forehead for a second, had he heard one of the men say Singhania?
M…Maan ssss sir did he sssay Singhania? Adi’s face was pale as milk.
Maan nodded, he really needed to think about this further. No wonder Major Saab was treating this seriously with and with caution.
“Shall we call a doctor?” Geet asked as her and Pinky helped Mrs Chaddha up.
“No I am fine just a bit bruised. How did we let them get away?” She moaned shaking her head.
suddenly there was a huge clap of thunder and the lights went out,
“Damn! That’s all we needed!” Maan groaned.
“Don’t worry, I have candles, this happens a lot here, Pinky there are some in that drawer straight ahead of you.”
Pinky went and retrieved the candles and they all set about lighting them in the hall so they could see.
“Err Mrs Chadhha do you have a phone here, I cant seem to get signal on my mobile.”
She nodded to a table, Maan went and tried the phone but it was dead. “Damn it how are we going to call for taxi?” The rain thrashed hard and the storm started to drive it self into a frenzy. Upstairs doors could be heard opening and closing. They all stared at each other wondering who was upstairs.
“Err Mrs Chaddha who is upstairs?” Adi asked nervously.
“Upstairs ..no one..oh you mean the doors..thats just the ghosts.” Mrs Chaddha said matter-of-factly
“Gh..Gh..Ghosts!” Pinky’s voice came out in a squeak. “I thought you were joking when you said that.”
Maan rolled his eyes, “Pinky no need to get nervous its probably just the wind, there are windows open upstairs.”
“No Maan there are really ghosts in the house. I have lived with them a long time. If you don’t bother them they don’t bother you.”
Staring at her Maan didn’t press her in-case she came out with more strange comments. As it was he couldn’t believe what he was doing here in this mess, with chickens sitting all around Mrs Chaddha, in a supposedly haunted house with no phone, two flat tyres and a raging storm outside.
“Maan…h..how are we going to get home?” Geet uttered the question that was hanging in the air and an impossibility to answer now. He glared at her ferociously.
“I was hoping you were going to come up with some exotic plan, it seems you are full of fantastic ideas that put you and all around you in mortal peril!” His tone dripped with sarcasm.
Thats not fair! I was…just trying to get top the bottom of this. And look now we know who is behind this. Mrs Chaddha did say someone from the past. Her eyes flashed with hurt.
Adi, Pinky and Mrs Chaddha were all looking at the both of them with great interest. Not willing to be a spectator sport he took a deep breath and looked at Mrs Chaddha, “err do you have any other transport? Some way of getting us home..I will send it back tomorrow with the driver.”
“No I just call a taxi when I need it. I am afraid you are stuck here for the night. But don’t worry there is plenty of room to sleep, and don’t let the noises bother you, they just going about their business.”
“Here!” Adi squeaked looking around with fright. “In this h….haunted house? Can we all sleep in the same room?”
“Haan, thats a great idea Adi!” Pinky grasped it with both hands the noises were scaring her to death.
Maan eyes threw daggers at Geet, there was no way he was going to sleep with these two in the same room. She had got him into this mess, she better make sure they had their own room at least, he would need privacy for what he had in mind!
