Enjoyyyy do comment..tell me what you liked and what you didn’t…Oh and I hope you all had a wonderful Valentines day yesterday.
Maan came back from his meeting feeling quite restless. Where was Singhania hiding? Major Saab was having no luck at all finding him even though he was trying his best. The uncertainty of what could happen next was wearing every ones tempers thin, especially his. He didn’t know from one moment to the another whether to leave Geet alone or just stick to her like glue twenty-four hours a day just in-case Singhania resurfaced.
He spotted Captain Veer Singh and Agent Gupta sitting patently in a corner waiting for Geet and him to go out somewhere and wondered how long could he endure being followed about everywhere and as for Geet, she was sometimes so unpredictable and head strong he was sure she was going to try and lose Captain Veer Singh at some point once she got some madcap thought in her head.
No, it was best all around if they found Singhania quickly. His thoughts focused on last night, she had been so intense, every caress, every kiss passionate and fierce. Almost as if she were frightened and trying to lose herself in him. It didn’t sit well in his gut to think that she was so worried and at the moment he wasn’t able to do a thing about it.
He looked around the busy quiet humming of the Khuarana offices. She was nowhere to be seen, was she still enclosed in her office? Was she all right? Earlier she had been so jumpy, was she too scared to come out. Walking to her office he opened the door to find it empty. He was just about to leave when a mobile started to ring on her desk.
“Ghaghraaaaaaaa! Mera Ghaaghaaraaaa!
Delhi se Agraaaaaaa…Mera Ghaghraaaaaaa!”
Walking up to the desk he stared at it making a face. What kind of bakwas tune was this and who’s phone was this?
“This is a office not a dhabba,” he muttered, his expression fierce as he picked it up to stop the incessant ringing.
“KOTHA! KAMEENA! KUTTA!” Screamed a voice down the phone.
At the same time Pinky squealed in Adi’s office. “Geet! I’ve left the phone in your office!” Before she could even finish the sentence Geet sprinted across the office bursting through the door to see Maan with the handset in his hand, his face like a dark thunder cloud as he listened to the man screaming at him down the phone.
“What the hell?” Maan growled, his body stiff as his eyes flitted between the handset and Geet’s bursting in through the door and halt in front of him with a wild look in her eyes.
“KUTTA! Mein tujhe maar daalunga! Chor! Mera phone chura liya kameena! Bol tu kaun hai mein teri ma ke kasaam tera tukda tukda kaar ke gaali ke…”
Maan’s eyes turned dark with rage. “Who IS this?” He said it so quietly it was almost a whisper. That low whisper Geet knew very well. The quiet before the storm- all hell was about to break lose.
Adi and pinky ran in behind her pushing her through the door practically at Maan who was shaking with rage.
Mohan screamed, “Kutta! You have my phone and you are asking me my name! TU KAUN HAI KUTTA?”
Geet did the only thing she could before Maan or Mohan found out who it was, she snatched the phone from his hand and passed it to Adi.
Maan looked thunderstruck. “What the hell are you doing?”
“Errr…errrrr its Adi’s cousins phone.” She flashed her eyes at Adi to take up the baton.
“WHATSMYCOUSINWHO?” A very pale Adi came out with gibberish, swaying as he looked at Maan. His head was shaking like mad pleading no to Geet.
“ADI! Don’t you remember?” Geet’s eyes blazed at him, “its your COUSIN from Mumbai!” Her lips miming please please…
Still shaking his head in a negative manner Adi managed to choke out …”mera cousin..haan from Mum..”
The man on the other line was still ranting and screaming they could all hear him screeching.
“Errr Adi speak to your cousin.” Pinky squeaked her eyes on a very angry Maan, “he is needs to know its you.”
“Me? Why me? “Adi’s expression became one of fear as his shaking hands wouldn’t let him bring the phone to his ear. Pinky helped him by pushing the phone against his ear.
“KUTTA ERRR ERR Kya hai?” Screamed Mohan. “I WILL FIND YOU AND MY PHONE!” With that he terminated the call.
“Geet! What is all this? Its obvious that there is something going on. This cant be Adi’s cousin.” Hands on hips and shaking with anger he stood stock still, demanding answers from them all.
“Yes it can.” Geet stuck her chin in the air whilst Adi and Pinky stood as still as mannequins staring blankly at Maan and Geet.
“No it can’t.” Maan stared hard at her stepping one step closer.
“Why can’t it?” She took one step back to come up against her desk.
“Because I know Adi has no uncles.” his eyes raked her from top to toe as if he just couldn’t believe she was coming out with this nonsense.
Adi sat down on the nearest chair pale and shaking, Pinky still holding the phone to his ear.
“He…he could have distant cousins…” Geet ventured a little uncertainly. “Chaddo why don’t you have uncles?” She muttered under her breath to Adi, “Everybody has uncles!”
“I knew it wouldn’t work.” Pinky blabbed.
“What?” Maan beat out in a hard tone, a violent tick had started up in his cheek. First at being shouted at by an extremely rude person and now as he looked at the three of them, he just knew he wasn’t going to like this.
“Our plan. Well actually my plan.” Sighed Geet with regret, it was all over.
“What plan?” Maan inhaled a deep breath – getting information out of these three was like drawing teeth.
“My plan to lure Singhania out into the open.”
“WHHHHHAAAATTTTT!” It was such a roar that the whole office came to a stand still. They had never heard Maan sir shout like this. EVER.
“Chaddo! All gone down the drain.” Geet muttered, facing him. “It would have worked.” Undeterred by his roar. He would have to understand it had been all about trying to get Singhania to leave him alone.
“Are you trying to tell me that this phone has something to do with Singhania?” His brain worked fast.
“Yes…Maan. Yesterday when I hit one of his goons I think he accidentally dropped it in my handbag.”
“When did you find this phone?”
“When?” His eyes stared at her hard. “Before I left?”
“No… after you left , when I was looking for my keys.” A sheepish look came over her face.
“And when you came into the office you didn’t think you should have shared with me this vital piece of information?” Again his tone had dropped to a lethal quietness.
“Well……I was still thinking of a plan to lure Singhania out.”
“So let me get this straight..” Geet could feel the quiet anger emanating from him.
“You told Adi and Pinky about this but didn’t think you should tell me.”
Ignoring his question she took another tack.”Well Pinky found out accidentally and Adi… well he also found out by accident.”
“But you took them into your confidence.” he took a step back from her, his face not showing a flicker of emotion.
“I had to Maan. Don’t you see? I can lure him out. If I called Singhania and asked him to make a deal to leave you alone he definitely would have come out of hiding.
Speechless he could only stare at her. ‘To leave him alone’ rang loud and clear in his head. Such a slim slip of a thing with the heart of a tigress. But that she would put herself again in the jaws of death didn’t bear thinking about, for him yet again…or was that her excuse.
“So what was the plan? You would call him and make a deal? What kind of deal?”
“Money…I was checking how much money I had in my accounts to try and entice him out in the open. Major Saab was saying he needs funds as he is again trying to build up his network.”
“And you were going to tell Captain Veer Singh I assume.” This was getting harder and harder to swallow.
“Well….Pinky was going to distract him until we were sure it was Singhania and then we would have told him and he could have caught him.”
“But you didn’t think that you should tell me any of this?” His eyes became deep dark orbs of anger and pain. For a moment he just stared at the three of them and then as the fear of what could have happened to her and the rage at her idiocy overtook his brain making him see a red mist, he walked out of her office without saying a further word or asking more questions. At that moment he just couldn’t trust himself to say anything. She had left him literally speechless. Didn’t she have any confidence in him that she would try to do it alone.
Staring at the phone he had been using Mohan almost wept as he slowly wiped the sweat from his brow with the back of his hand. Was that Maan Singh Khurana who answered? OMG..No please god don’t let it be. Shaking his head he convinced himself that the errr errrrr couldn’t be Khuarana!
If boss found out he had lost his phone he would be done for. Thank god it was just a cheap knock -off version that he could replace. But what of all the calls and details he had programmed into the phone of boss’s whereabouts…he had better keep quiet and hope that boss didn’t find out that he had lost it. But how could he explain the change of number….thinking hard he decided he would tell boss that he dropped it and crushed the SIM. He was going to see boss tonight he had better get a move on and get a new phone.
Singhania stared out onto the street scene, such as it was. A man walked past in the gaali and spat a stream of red paan across his window.
Recoiling in horror he slumped onto his threadbare sofa. How had he come to this? Things had to change for him or he would have to leave this godforsaken place before he caught something and go back to the middle east. At least he had some worthwhile contacts there- he would give it one more go- to get Maan Singh Khurana. Where was that Moron? What time did he say he was coming, Singhania picked up his phone and pressed the speed dial to Mohan.
Geet stared after Maan. The way he had just left her she knew she was in a whole heap of trouble.
“Maan…” she called out opening the door to her office in order to follow him when the phone that was the cause of all this trouble rang again.
Ghaghraaaaaaaa! Mera Ghaaghaaraaaa!
Delhi se Agraaaaaaa…Mera Ghaghraaaaaaa!
Immediately Maan stopped in his tracks and turned back. They both stared at each other, in seconds he was back in her office and taking the phone out of Pinkys shaking hands.
He saw the caller ID which said boss.
His brow creased into a tight line, taking a deep breath he flicked on the answering button.
“Moron!” Came the quiet chilling voice through the handset. “What time are you coming? And did you remember what I asked you to get me?
Singhania! Closing his eyes he focused. This was the break they needed. Playing along, Maan gruffly said ‘Yes’
“Moron? What’s happened to your voice.”
Maan made out he was clearing his throat.
“Well anyway- Single malt! Nothing else will do. And don’t try and get me cheap rubbish I will know.”
“And find me somewhere else to stay, this Hanuman gaali is the dirtiest stinkiest place on the planet! How did you find it?”
Hanuman Gaali? There were a hundred hanumaan Gaalis in Delhi..Maan thought fast. “Err Boss…” clearing his throat again he gasped “..err you said you like that area.”
“Are you insane? You Moron! You think Patel Nagar is worthy of me! Of ME!”
Maan coughed, “Err….no boss. Sorry boss.”
“Bring me the whisky and find me somewhere else to stay.” Singhania terminated the call in disgust. Sinking down on the sofa he stared blankly into space. Why was no plan coming into his head. Was he not cut out for this anymore…Jumping up he stared hard at himself in a cracked mirror. He would not admit defeat. He would have Maan Singh Khurana’s blood at any cost to hell with everything else.
Giving all three of them a hard encompassing look Maan walked out of her office again calling out to Captain Veer Singh and Agent Gupta to follow him.
“Maan….” Geet called out as she ran behind them but he didn’t even turn around as he closed his office door in her face.
