TPR2 chap 30 – Divided we fall…
Helloooooooo Sunday Sundae here yet again! Jeez another week flashed by! Well anyway the story moves forward and we see our pair having some issues, well that was bound to happen wasn’t it they’re both stubborn as mules ;))
Anyhow enjoy and do comment love to read them. Tell me what you enjoyed and what could be worked on. Any errors please point out so I can correct them as always this was a last minute.com.
“Maan!” Geet pushed the door open after him.
Both Agent Gupta and Captain Veer Singh looked at her flushed face.
“Geet. I don’t need you in this meeting. I can take it from here.” His hard stare spoke volumes.
“But it was my plan!”
“Githhh!” He was at the end of his tether. She had cut him so deep he had no words to express himself at this moment. But he had to bank his pain for now. Catching Singhania was much more important and with this lead they could finally get him.
“Whatever it was, as I said I can take it from here. I will take it from here. Just GO!” His eyes were hard, his body language closed.
Both Agents Gupta and Captain Veer Singh looked uncomfortable at this turn of events.
Pain filled her eyes, he looked away. He would not be swayed by her tears, not when she…..
Turning sharply on her heel she walked out of his office and back to hers. Adi and Pinky looked shaken. As she looked at them she felt sorry for them to have been caught up in this.
“Adi..Pinky I am sorry to have got you caught in the middle of this. Really I am.”
Adi opened to his mouth to say something but his phone rang. Giving Geet an apologetic look he answered. “Haan sir …yes I am coming.” Clicking off the phone he said unnecessarily “..It was Maan sir he needs me…”
“You had better go Adi.” He nodded to her and left.
“At least he needs someone!” She muttered under her breath.
Picking up her bag she made to go out.
“Where are you going?” Pinky frowned.
“I don’t know Pinky. I really thought I could do it..and save Maan. I did it all for him, doesn’t he realise that?” Deep distress ran through her, with a sigh she put her bag down again. She looked through the glass at them, they all seemed to be deep in conversation with Agent Gupta on the phone as well, she assumed with Major Saab.
“I think Geet, he feels the same. You are both cast from the same cloth, you both feel the need to save each other. Every time you put yourself in danger he really gets angry- and to be frank sometimes I don’t blame him.”
“So its Ok for him to throw himself in front of danger just because he is a man!”
“Geet! You know I don’t mean it that way.” Pinky pursed her lips and stared hard at her friend.
“He is after all Maan Singh Khurana…he is ‘the’ man, your husband. He is bound to feel that he should be the one tackling Singhania and not you.”
“Whatever..” She knew he felt responsible but still, “all I know is that I can lure Singhania out easier than he could. If he would only think about that and get over his macho hurt we could all sleep easier much quicker.”
Mohan reached Patel Nagar, cursing each step he took. “I am so fed up of this.” He muttered to no one in particular. “Where does he think I will get the money to buy him single malt and what’s more it has to be imported. He is out of his mind. I have a good mind to call Maan Singh Khurana and tell him exactly where boss is – maybe there is a reward.”
“Who are you speaking to?” Ramu looked around vaguely as he walked up to a cursing Mohan, looking for somebody, anybody.
“Ramu..errr no one, just fed up of this.” Mohan held up the bottle that Singhania had demanded. “He pays us so badly and demands imported whisky. “
“Shhhh! If boss hears you he will chop you up into little pieces and feed the dogs with the remains.”
Mohan gulped and nodded. He knew Singhania had a reputation – one he really didn’t want to test. “Did you find him somewhere else to live?”
“Arrey No! The rents are astronomical everywhere. And anyway I can’t be bothered to walk around in this heat for him.”
“Sahi,” Mohan muttered. “Chalo lets get it over with.” he said leading the way to Singhania’s hideout.
Back at the office…
Pinky and Geet watched as Maan walked out of the office along with Agent Gupta and Captain Veer Singh.
“Where is he going?” Geet muttered, knowing full well it would be useless to run after him to ask.
“Best not to ask at the moment.” Pinky advised as she caught the tight look on Maan’s face as he glanced at Geet before he went off.
“Geet!” Mrs Chaddha’s voice called out as she walked into the office some five minutes later. “Was that Maan I just saw going somewhere? You must stop him!”
“Mrs Chaddha?” Geet and Pinky watched the flamboyant Mrs Chaddha enter their office, a worried frown marred her otherwise jolly roundness. As usual she made everyone stop in their tracks with her bright kaftan- which today had large pictures of bananas on it.
“Why? What do you mean?” Geet’s fear came back with a rush. Mrs Chaddha had been right last time.
“I saw a premonition Maan was being attacked by someone….dark, slim and evil! You must stop him Geet!”
Both the girls looked at each other, “Singhania!”
“Oh my God…Mrs Chaddha …What? How? Please tell me more.”
“That’s it dear I can’t tell you any more than that. I just know you have to stop him or he will get hurt.”
“I knew it!” Geet’s voice trembled, her deepest fears confirmed. “I should have lured him out and Maan would be safe.” Picking up her phone she dialled his number. It rang and rang and reverted to voicemail.
“Damn it, he is not answering his phone now.”
“Then go after him and warn him!” Mrs Chaddha said with urgency.
“I don’t know where he has gone…” Just then she spotted Adi coming out of his office. Almost running she grabbed his arm and dragged him back to her office.
“Huh Huh Huh Mrs Chaaa…Chhhaddha! What are you dong here?” His eyes took in her bright Kaftan with large bananas and he couldn’t stop laughing again.
“Adi!” Geets sharp tone stopped him in his tracks. “Mrs Chaddha here says Maan’s in danger, where has he gone? Tell us urgently, we have to stop him.”
“Danger?” Adi’s face paled.
“Where has he gone?” Geet pleaded with him to tell her the truth.
“Maan..sir has gone chasing after Singhania. They talked with Major Saab and he thinks they can find the location of the telephone that called the one you had…”
“Thereby locating Singhania…” Filled in Geet.
“Haan that’s why they have gone to Hanuman gali in Patel Nagar, Singhania has to be there somewhere.”
“Geet, we must go! Now!” Mrs Chaddha looked frantic now, she started towards the door.
“But Maan Sir said to wait here, I am not to let you go anywhere.” Looking nervous Adi hopped from one foot to another. Thinking that Maan sir could be in danger worried him, but knowing that Maan sir would put HIM in danger if he let Geet go worried him even more.
“Adi…. please!” Geet pleaded.
In the end worry about Maan sir being in danger won out and he stepped aside to let them all file out of the office, following them out of KC building to flag down a taxi.
Why was she calling him. Maan pursed his lips. Maybe it was to apologise. Well, he was in no mood to accept even an apology from her right now. How could she have kept such a huge thing from him and to top that she planned to take on Singhania all by herself!
“Paagal hai..completely insane.” He muttered under his breath.
“You said something Sir?” Agent Gupta asked from the back seat.
“No, nothing. Just thinking out loud.” He had a good mind to never speak to her again.
Captain Veer’s Singh’s phone rang. “Hello? Errr yes, yes…err Maan Sir its Geet maam for you.” He handed him the phone sheepishly.
Muttering a curse under his breath he took the handset, not even giving her a chance to say anything he beat out in hard tones.
“Geet I don’t want to know! I will see you back home.” With that he terminated the call, handing back the phone, giving Captain Veer Singh a look that clearly said don’t hand me Geet’s call again.
Back in the taxi Geet cursed profusely making Pinky and Mrs Chaddha giggle and Adi blush. “Now he wont take my call! How am I supposed to warm him about the danger?”
“Lets just get there,” Mrs Chaddha said, “I am sure we will find a way to help him.”
“Please Babaji! Don’t let anything happen to my Maan before we get there.”
Mohan tried to avoid eye contact with Singhania. Boss had a funny way of knowing when someone was lying, probably because he was so suspicious of everyone.
“So…Moron you broke your phone? Exactly how?” His dark penetrating eyes firmly rested on Mohan’s face.
“Well….it ..fell on the floor and ……by mistake I stepped on the SIM as well crushing it completely sooo I had to get a new one. Did you like your whisky boss?” He jumped conversations trying to divert him.
“Hmmmm..” Singhania didn’t look at all convinced. “Perhaps you lost it at the shopping centre, when all that ruckus was going on?”
Mohan paled alarmingly. “Nooooooo…boss err its like I said it fell on the floor in the toilet and then I had to buy another one.”
But Singhania was not listening, he had seen Mohan’s pale face. The game was up. He had to get out of here before Major Saab found him. Quickly running to his bedroom he grabbed his meagre belongings and stuffed them into a bag.
“Where are you going boss?” Ramu questioned, puzzled at the sudden turn of events.
“If I am correct in my calculations, Major Saab will be very near by now.” He calmly went up to Mohan and slapped him hard right across the face felling him to the ground. “You are truly a moron! You’re fired! Now get lost.”
“If I had time I would show you how angry I am but that can wait for later. Ramu come with me.” Singhania ordered him to follow, but the chilling deadly calmness that Singhania radiated scared the hell out of him, he hung back with the injured Mohan.
Giving them one last hard dark stare Singhania left, walking out into the night. Along with Major Saab, Maan Singh Khurana wouldn’t be far. He was not going to hide anymore, he decided he would find Maan Singh Khurana and finish him off himself.
